Giving Life To Muscles

World first AI Model to predict FSHD Disease Progression published

Predicting progression in FSHD is now possible thanks to a model powered by AI that accurately predicts progression on an individual muscle level which is set to revolutionise clinical trial design for FSHD.

FSHD Global played a leading role in funding, supporting and enabling this world-first collaboration with Springbok Analytics, transforming an ambitious concept into a groundbreaking reality for the FSHD community. Our commitment to advancing clinical trial readiness led us to invest in this pioneering approach, harnessing AI and whole-body MRI to develop personalised models of disease progression.

The paper is available in the Scientific Reports Journal: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-025-09516-8?utm_source=rct_congratemailt&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=oa_20250716&utm_content=10.1038/s41598-025-09516-8

This new tool offers unprecedented insight into how FSHD progresses, enabling smarter trial design, better biomarkers, and more timely therapeutic intervention. Thank you to our partners and co-funders Springbok Analytics, Friends of FSH research, Seattle Children’s, and FSHD Canada for helping bring this vision to life. And of course, we offer our genuine appreciation to our donors who have supported this grant – your investment in us will change lives.

Congratulations to the Springbok Analytics team and all collaborators on this world-first achievement. This is what progress looks like—and it brings us closer to effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
