Dr Katy De Valle

Dr Katy de Valle began her career in 1998 at The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, joining the Department of Physiotherapy. She began her career working with children suffering acute and chronic neurological and respiratory conditions.

In 2005, Katy transitioned to her current role in the Department of Neurology, where she works as a clinical evaluator within the Neuromuscular Research Team. She contributes to large international pharmaceutical trials and natural history studies on neuromuscular disorders, including Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease, and Facioscapulohumeral Dystrophy (FSHD).

Katy has also played a key role in designing and implementing site-specific research projects. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at The University of Melbourne, with a research focus on evaluating outcome measures for assessing physical functioning in children with FSHD. Throughout her career, she has presented her work at both national and international conferences.
